Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Finance Manager role based in Northampton. The Finance Manager will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial controls, and effective management information to support strategic decision-making and continued business growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Production of financial reports, forecasts, and budgets
  • Cash flow forecasting and management
  • Overseeing purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, and credit control functions
  • Managing month end and year end processes
  • Balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records
  • VAT returns and ensuring compliance with financial regulations
  • Supporting the external accountants and auditors
  • Analysing financial performance and identifying areas for improvement
  • Providing financial insight and reporting to support business decisions
  • Monitoring company expenditure and margins
  • Developing and improving financial systems, processes, and controls
  • Managing a team of 2

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have previous experience within a Finance Manager role, ideally within an SME environment, and will possess strong financial management, budgeting, and cash flow management skills. You will have experience producing management accounts, financial reporting, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Applicants should be highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines. Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across the business are essential. You should also be confident using financial software and Microsoft Excel.

Candidates who hold professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, or ACA will be viewed favourably, although qualified by experience candidates will also be considered.


Remuneration

  • Salary: £50,000 to c£60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • 40 hours per week
  • Pension scheme, free parking
  • 28 days holiday including statutory days

The role is based in Northampton and within commutable distance of Wellingborough, Kettering, Rushden, Daventry, Burton Latimer, Corby, Market Harborough and Long Buckby.
