Overview

We are working with our Kettering based client who is looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join their growing team. This is an opportunity to join a business in a varied role where you will continue to grow and develop.

This is a busy and fast paced position which requires someone who is highly organised, able to work well under pressure and has excellent attention to detail. The company is passionate about supporting development and study support is provided for the successful candidate.


Key Responsibilities

  • Processing of sales and purchase invoices
  • Preparation of VAT for review by your manager prior to submission
  • Collating payroll information
  • Purchase ledger management, including preparing weekly bill reports, preparing weekly payment runs
  • Sales ledger and credit control duties
  • Undertaking weekly bank reconciliations
  • Month end reconciliations and journals were required
  • Managing the email inbox, responding to and actioning emails in a timely manner
  • Being part of the phone answering rota

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have good literacy and numeracy skills, equivalent to GCSE grade 5 or above in English and Maths, and experience using Microsoft Office Excel in a finance environment. Applicants may be studying towards AAT, CIMA or ACCA qualifications, or alternatively be qualified through relevant practical experience.

You will have previous experience working in a similar accounts role covering many of the transactional duties, along with experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero and Sage. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage workloads effectively are essential, together with a positive and professional approach and strong communication skills.


Remuneration

  • £26,500 per annum
  • Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week
  • 4 days in the office, 1 working from home after successful completion of probation
  • 23 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, option to buy more holidays
  • Study support and additional benefits

The role is based in Kettering and within commutable distance of Northampton, Wellingborough, Corby, Rothwell, Desborough, and Thrapston.
