Feel Motivated with Debbie Burbage

If you struggle to get out of bed on a Monday morning and feel demotivated towards your working day ahead, then there are a few simple activities you can do in the morning to help you gain some motivation to see you through each working day of the week. Follow these simple tips and see if you can gain some positivity and motivation for your working week ahead.

1. Get Up & Go!

The best thing to do each morning is to get up and go. Many people like to hit the snooze button several times on the alarm but by doing this you can end up feeling more tired and become demotivated for the rest of the day. Make sure that you spring out of bed at the first sound of your alarm and this will make you feel more alert and help you feel motivated for the rest of the day.

2. Stretch and Exercise

It is recommended that you have about 5-10 minutes of exercise in the morning. Exercise is a great way to awaken the body and get you ready for the day ahead. A few sit ups, running up and down the stairs a few times or a jog around the block will help circulate blood around the body and can help boost your motivation.

3. Have Something To Eat

So many people skip breakfast without realising that it is the most important meal of the day. The recommended sleeping time is around about 8 hours, so on average it is about 12-14 hours since eating dinner the night before which means you body has not eaten for about half a day. Fuel your body for the day with a healthy breakfast of cereal, fruit and a glass of water or fruit juice. Fuelling your body will give you the energy you need for the day.

4. Hydrate Yourself

Having something to drink in the morning is just as important as having something to eat. If you wake up still feeling tired  and a bit drowsy or light headed then it could be because you are dehydrated. You only need to realise that your body hasn’t had any liquid for 8 hours or more, so rehydrate yourself with a fresh glass of water, cup of tea or fruit juice.

5. Have A Refreshing Shower

Ever heard the saying “Clean Body, Clear Mind”. A nice refreshing shower can help motivate you for the rest of the day. Not only does a shower wake you up it can really boost your motivation and help you feel positive towards the day. Those that just get up and go in the morning will not feel as refreshed as those that choose to take a shower or have a bath before going to work so always make sure you clean your body to clear your mind.

6. Listen To Your Favourite Tunes

Music can really help boost your motivation and give you the energy you need to start the day. Simply turn the radio on or put your favourite feel good CD on to help you feel more energised. Something that will get you singing and dancing whilst you are getting ready for work in the morning can really help the way you feel for the rest of the day.

7. Get Some Fresh Air

Fresh air can really help awaken your mind and your body. Think about having a walk to work or if you need to travel further then you can either park in a car park which is a little bit further to walk to the office, or have a walk around on your lunch break. This is a great way to also get some exercise which can help energise you and reduce any fatigue.

8. Plan Your Day

Having a plan for the day can really help motivate you. A simple list of the tasks you need to complete throughout the day is a great way to help you through the day as you have a structured plan that you can work towards. Spend the first part of each morning at work writing down all the things you need to complete by the end of the day.

9. Look Forward To Something

Looking forward to something is a great way to boost your motivation and see you through each day. With your plan for the day, you can plan something that you are going to look forward to. This could be getting together with colleagues for a pub lunch, or something you may of planned for after work such as meeting up with friends for the cinema.

10. Be Positive and Stay Happy

Start each day with a positive mind as this will help motivate you. Stay positive at work and help others become more positive as well. You can do this by helping a colleague at work, or saying something to make them happy which will help boost their motivation and confidence in the workplace.
