ABOUT ME

I am a finance professional with experience across accounts payable, finance administration and accountancy practice, and I am now looking for the next step in my career where I can broaden my accounting experience and continue developing professionally.

My current experience has given me a strong grounding in the day-to-day workings of a busy finance function, including invoice processing, supplier payments, expenses, reconciliations and dealing with financial queries. Earlier in my career, I also gained experience within accountancy practice, which introduced me to year-end accounts and tax work and gave me a wider understanding of accounting.

I am naturally analytical and detail focused and enjoy understanding how things work rather than simply following a process. I have a degree combining economics and mathematical sciences, alongside AAT studies, and am now keen to continue my professional development by beginning the ACCA qualification.

LOOKING FOR

I am looking for an Accounts Assistant or similar developing finance opportunity where I can build on the experience I already have and gradually take on greater accounting responsibility.

Based in Milton Keynes, I am happy to travel south towards Luton, north to Northampton and across to Towcester, as well as considering opportunities within the surrounding areas.

An important part of my next move is joining an employer that can offer study support towards ACCA. I am keen to develop further into areas such as month end, management accounts and wider accounting responsibilities while continuing to contribute to the everyday requirements of the finance team.

I am currently on a one month notice period and am looking for a salary of circa £31,000 per annum.

IMPORTANT TO ME

Development is important to me, and I am looking for a business where I can learn from experienced colleagues while being trusted to take on more responsibility as my knowledge grows.

I enjoy being part of a supportive team and value an environment where people are comfortable asking questions and sharing their knowledge. At the same time, I like having ownership of my own work and making sure that what I produce is accurate and completed properly.

For my next move, I am looking beyond simply changing jobs. I would like to find an organisation where I can continue my studies, develop my accounting career and have the opportunity to stay and progress over the longer term.

INTERESTS

I am particularly interested in developing my understanding of the wider accounting process and seeing how the transactional work carried out within finance ultimately feeds into month end and management reporting.

I also have an interest in how technology can improve finance processes. I have already had the opportunity to explore potential automation within accounts payable, researching different finance systems and considering how technology could reduce manual processing and improve efficiency.

My academic background has also given me an interest in data and analysis. I enjoy working with information, understanding patterns and finding practical solutions when something does not look right.

SKILLS AND WORKING PREFERENCES

I have practical experience across accounts payable, invoice processing, payment runs, expense claims, supplier queries, cash reconciliations, sales invoicing and credit control support.

My earlier accountancy practice experience also gave me exposure to year-end accounts, personal tax returns and working directly with client financial information.

I am confident using Sage, Xero and QuickBooks, together with Excel including PivotTables, VLOOKUPs and SUMIFS.

Accuracy and organisation are important strengths of mine, particularly when working with high volumes of transactions. I am comfortable managing regular deadlines and enjoy investigating discrepancies and making sure financial information is complete and correct.

For my next position, I would particularly value the opportunity to broaden my exposure to month end and management accounting while working towards ACCA.
