Sitting here writing this, I honestly don’t know where those years have gone.
When I started the business in 2012, I simply wanted to create a recruitment company that did things differently. One where people mattered more than targets. One built on honesty, kindness, integrity and genuine relationships.
What I never realised was how many incredible people would become part of my own journey.
If I’m honest, it hasn’t always been easy. There have been times when I’ve wondered whether I had the strength to carry on. Times when I’ve questioned myself, shed a few tears and thought about walking away.
But every single time, something has happened to remind me why I started.
A phone call from someone whose life has changed because they’ve found the right opportunity.
A client who trusts us to help build their team. A message years later to say thank you.
An invitation to a wedding, a christening or another special family celebration.
And, sadly, there have also been times when we’ve shared in heartbreak, attending funerals and supporting people through some of life’s most difficult moments.
Recruitment has never been about jobs for me. It’s about people. It’s about being there for one another through all of life’s chapters.
I often say that some of the best friendships in my life started as a client or candidate relationship, and I genuinely mean that (you know who you are). I feel incredibly privileged that so many of you have allowed me to become a small part of your story, just as you’ve become part of mine.
To my amazing team, thank you. You care deeply, you work incredibly hard, and you live our values every single day. I couldn’t ask for better people to share this journey with, and I am so proud of every one of you, past and present.
And to every client, candidate, friend, supporter and member of my network, thank you. Whether we’ve worked together once or for many years, you’ve helped shape Debbie Burbage Recruitment into the business it is today.
This year has reminded me more than ever that life moves far too quickly. Celebrate the good days, support each other through the difficult ones, and never underestimate the difference a little kindness can make.
As we begin our 15th year, my promise remains exactly the same as it was on day one. We will always do what we believe is right. We will always put people first. And we will always be grateful for every person who chooses to put their trust in us.
Whilst I may have founded Debbie Burbage Recruitment, every single person I’ve met along the way has helped build it. This business is so much more than mine. It belongs to every client who has trusted us, every candidate who has believed in us, every member of my team who has shared the journey, and every person who has supported us over the past 14 years.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making the last 14 years so very special.
Here’s to the next chapter.
With love and gratitude,
Debbie
