Overview

Are you passionate about Purchase Ledger and enjoy a standalone role? We are working exclusively with our client, an established business based in Wellingborough, who is looking to recruit an experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk who loves what they do and wants to be part of a friendly accounts team. 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with hybrid working after the probationary period.


The Role

Reporting to the Finance Director, duties will include:

  • Own the complete purchase ledger process for several companies within the group
  • Code, batch, and input of purchase invoices
  • Gain invoice authorisation and chase relevant managers for outstanding invoices
  • Reconcile supplier statements, chase discrepancies, and build strong relationships
  • Respond clearly and promptly to internal and external purchase ledger queries
  • Prepare payment runs and allocate
  • Contribute to month‑end routines (ledger reconciliations, journal postings)
  • Keep the purchase ledger clean, compliant, and audit‑ready
  • Assist in other areas of finance as and when required

The Candidate

The ideal candidate, with accuracy and integrity, will bring solid technical experience, isn’t afraid to dig deeper, question the status quo, and proactively spot improvements in processes and procedures. As part of this, you’ll need to be inquisitive. Your interpersonal and communication skills must be strong, enabling you to liaise confidently and clearly with suppliers and colleagues. You should have strong MS Office, especially Excel for analysis and reporting, and Teams for smooth collaboration.


Remuneration 

Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience

Hours: 35 hours per week- hybrid offered after probation

Holidays: 25 days plus Statutory days

Benefits: Life Assurance 4x basic salary, pension scheme
