This is a part-time opportunity (circa 3 days per week) with a flexible working pattern. The role offers a chance to make a real impact in an organisation that delivers meaningful work within the community.

  • Oversee the accurate and timely production of management accounts and the continuous development of accounting systems.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and initiatives, advising the leadership team on any financial implications or changes (e.g., charity accounting regulations).

Governance & Compliance

Additional Responsibilities

  • Champion the organisation’s culture and values, contributing to a respectful, safe, and productive working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies including Health & Safety, GDPR, and Equal Opportunities.
  • Undertake relevant training and development as required by the Chief Executive.
  • Carry out additional duties as reasonably requested in line with the seniority and responsibility of the role.

Key Relationships

  • Member of the Strategic Management Team (SMT).
  • Key liaison with the Finance Sub-Committees.
  • Line management of Finance Team members (direct and indirect reports).

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or CIPFA) with proven experience in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within the not-for-profit or charitable sector. The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of current accounting software and financial management systems across functions such as purchase and sales ledger, payroll, banking, and stock.

Excellent people management and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to evaluate business proposals, assess financial risks, and implement robust control frameworks. You will be highly analytical, strategic, and capable of producing clear, accurate reports and financial presentations.

Strong communication, interpersonal and IT skills are crucial, as is the ability to work collaboratively while also being self-motivated and able to prioritise under pressure. Ideally, you will also bring an understanding of charity-specific reporting standards (SORP) and VAT Cultural Exemption, although this is not essential.

If you’re a purpose-driven finance professional looking to contribute to a forward-thinking and impactful organisation, we’d love to hear from you.
