Overview

Debbie Burbage Recruitment is delighted to be working with an established SME based in Daventry. This standalone role would suit a “hands-on” individual with strong Excel skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and previous management accounting experience, including HMRC submissions and entry transactions.


The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the role includes:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts with clear analysis and insight to support decision making
  • Take full ownership of budgeting and forecasting processes, including detailed variance analysis
  • Manage month end close, including journals, prepayments and accruals
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
  • Carry out stock reconciliations and ensure accurate inventory reporting
  • Process purchase ledger invoices and manage supplier payments as part of a hands on finance function
  • Process sales ledger invoices and lead credit control activities to ensure timely collection of payments
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
  • Monitor cash flow and support financial planning activities
  • Analyse financial performance and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and profitability
  • Support year end processes and liaise with external auditors where required
  • Maintain and improve financial controls and processes
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to provide financial support and guidance
  • Use Excel and accounting systems to produce accurate and timely reports
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies

The Candidate

We are seeking a candidate with a minimum of five years’ accounting experience, ideally gained within a manufacturing environment. You will have strong systems experience alongside a solid understanding of general accounting principles and month-end processes. Strong Excel skills are important, including the use of pivot tables, lookups and basic formulas. You will bring excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities while working to tight deadlines.


Remuneration 

Salary: £negotiable per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Holidays: 25 days plus statutory days

Other Benefits: Pension, on-site parking
