About UnityMK

UnityMK supports people experiencing homelessness in Milton Keynes, helping them move towards safer, more stable futures. With ambitious plans ahead, including a significant new capital build project that has the potential to transform the way homelessness services are delivered within the city, they are now looking for an experienced fundraising professional to help turn that vision into reality.

This is much more than a fundraising role. It is an opportunity to become part of the senior team, influence the future direction of the charity and help create something that could make a difference to thousands of people for many years to come.

The Role

As Head of Fundraising and Communications, you will take ownership of the charity’s fundraising and communications strategy, building on the strong relationships already in place whilst developing new opportunities for sustainable income and support.

A significant focus of the role will be leading the ambitious capital fundraising campaign for UnityMK’s planned new facility.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and developing UnityMK’s overall fundraising and communications strategy
• Taking the lead on the capital fundraising campaign for the charity’s planned new facility
• Developing fundraising opportunities across individual giving, trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, major donors, community fundraising and events
• Identifying, developing and nurturing relationships with existing and prospective supporters, donors, businesses, trusts and foundations
• Creating compelling cases for support that bring UnityMK’s work, ambitions and future plans to life
• Working closely with the CEO, senior leadership team, Board and fundraising and communications colleagues
• Building on the strong relationships UnityMK already has within Milton Keynes and developing new partnerships and opportunities
• Helping to communicate the charity’s story and impact in a way that engages and inspires the wider community
• Bringing fresh ideas and new approaches to increase income, awareness and engagement
• Helping to shape a fundraising and communications function that supports UnityMK’s next stage of growth

Importantly, you will have the freedom to bring your own ideas to the role. UnityMK is looking for someone who can build on what is already working well whilst bringing fresh thinking and helping shape what comes next.

The Candidate

You will be an experienced fundraising professional with a track record of generating income and building strong, lasting relationships with donors, funders, businesses and supporters.

You will combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach, bringing strong communication skills, commercial awareness and the confidence to engage with people at all levels.

Above all, you will understand that great fundraising is about building trust, creating genuine connections and bringing people together around a shared purpose. You will care about the work UnityMK does and be excited by the opportunity to use your experience to make a lasting difference to people experiencing homelessness in Milton Keynes.

Remuneration

• Salary: £40,000 FTE per annum (for example, 30 hours equates to £34,285 per annum)
• Hours: 30 – 35 hours per week – Hybrid working
• Holidays: 25 days’ holiday plus statutory days (Pro-rata if reduced days)
• Additional: Pension, On-site parking, Employee Discount Scheme

The role is based in Milton Keynes and is easily commutable from Bedford, Northampton, Luton, Aylesbury, Buckingham, Bletchley, Leighton Buzzard, Woburn and the surrounding areas.
