Overview

We are delighted to be working exclusively with our Wellingborough based client, who is seeking a Financial Controller to join their leadership team. This is a pivotal role within the business, reporting directly to the Managing Director and providing the financial insight and stability that supports confident, forward-thinking decision making.


The Role

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, strong controls, and a reliable flow of financial information across the business.


Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the day to day running of the finance department
  • Producing monthly management accounts with clear analysis and commentary
  • Leading annual budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management
  • Preparing weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reporting for the MD
  • Ensuring robust financial controls and maintaining strong accounting standards
  • Managing year end requirements, including audit preparation and liaison with external auditors
  • Reviewing and improving internal processes, systems, and reporting structures
  • Overseeing payroll, VAT returns and compliance tasks
  • Monitoring business performance and providing commercial insight
  • Managing and developing the finance team, encouraging growth and capability
  • Working closely with the MD and senior leadership on financial planning and strategic decisions
  • Supporting operational teams with financial guidance to help drive efficiency and performance

The Candidate

This opportunity would suit a finance professional with experience in a similar Financial Controller role, ideally within an SME environment. You will be confident in producing detailed financial reports, managing a busy month-end, and advising senior leadership. Strong technical knowledge, a proactive mindset, and an organised, dependable approach are key. You will be someone who communicates with clarity, builds strong relationships, and brings a steady, thoughtful presence to the leadership team. Whether fully qualified or qualified by experience, your ability to lead a finance function with integrity and insight will be what matters most.


Remuneration 

  • £58,000 – £62,000 depending on experience
  • 9.00 am – 5.00 pm Office based
  • 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
  • Death in Service X3
  • Auto-enrolment pension
