Emily

FP&A, Commercial Finance, Finance Business Partner

ABOUT ME

I am an experienced finance professional with a strong commercial background and a career that has given me exposure to organisations of very different sizes, structures and stages of development.

What I enjoy most about finance is understanding what sits behind the numbers and using that information to help a business move forward. I am naturally analytical and inquisitive, but equally comfortable working with people, building relationships and explaining financial information in a way that is clear and relevant.

Having worked within both UK and international environments, I have developed a broad perspective and an adaptable approach. I am comfortable joining an established team, stepping into a changing environment or helping improve the way financial information is produced and used.

LOOKING FOR

I am looking for an FP&A, Commercial Finance, Finance Business Partner or similar finance opportunity across Northamptonshire or Milton Keynes.

Based in Northampton, I am happy to consider roles throughout the county, including Northampton, Kettering, Wellingborough, Corby, Towcester and Daventry, as well as Milton Keynes.

My ideal position would keep me connected to the wider business, working with operational and finance colleagues and providing the insight they need to understand performance and make informed decisions. I am particularly attracted to organisations where finance has a genuine voice and can contribute to future plans.

My salary expectation is circa £70,000 per annum, depending on the scope and responsibilities of the role.

IMPORTANT TO ME

I enjoy working somewhere where people communicate openly and finance is seen as a partner to the business rather than simply a reporting function.

Building good relationships is important to me. I like understanding the challenges colleagues face and being someone they feel comfortable approaching for support, challenge or another perspective.

I also appreciate organisations that are open to change. I have always enjoyed questioning whether something could be done more effectively and helping introduce improvements that make life easier for the people using the information.

INTERESTS

I have a genuine interest in data, technology and the way financial systems continue to evolve. I enjoy taking complex information and making it easier to understand, whether through improved reporting, better use of systems or simply presenting information differently.

Problem solving also appeals to me. I like getting underneath an issue, identifying what is really driving it and working collaboratively to find a practical way forward.

SKILLS AND WORKING PREFERENCES

My experience covers FP&A, management accounting, commercial finance, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, variance analysis, KPI reporting and cost and margin analysis.

I am confident working with large volumes of financial and operational data and have considerable experience turning this into concise reporting and commentary for stakeholders at different levels of a business.

My systems knowledge includes Microsoft Business Central, IFS, SAP, Agresso, Power BI and Business Objects, together with advanced Excel. I have also been involved in systems implementation, reporting improvements and finance transformation.

I am comfortable taking ownership and working independently, but I enjoy the interaction that comes from being part of a collaborative team and working across different areas of a business.

WHY THIS CANDIDATE STANDS OUT

Emily’s career offers an unusual breadth of experience across retail, manufacturing, distribution, service-led, charity and international organisations.

She combines strong analytical capability with commercial awareness and an ability to communicate effectively with people outside of finance. Rather than simply producing information, Emily enjoys understanding what it means, identifying the important points and helping others use it.

Her experience of different organisations, systems and periods of change also means she is adaptable and accustomed to quickly understanding how a business operates.

For organisations seeking an FP&A professional in Northampton, Commercial Finance expertise in Milton Keynes, a Finance Business Partner in Kettering or Wellingborough, or an experienced finance professional across Corby, Towcester, Daventry and wider Northamptonshire, Emily brings considerable experience together with a practical and collaborative approach.
