Overview

Debbie Burbage Recruitment is delighted to be working exclusively with UnityMK, a locally respected charity committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness through connection, purpose, and community. We are supporting them in the recruitment of a Meaningful Work Coordinator, starting in October 2025. This is part-time position working 20 hours per week that plays a vital role in helping individuals move forward through education, development, and meaningful engagement.

This inspiring opportunity involves designing and delivering a wide-ranging programme of courses and activities that build confidence, develop life and employability skills, and prepare individuals for independent living. You’ll work closely with local partners, businesses, and community groups to create connections and open doors for UnityMK guests, offering personalised guidance and ongoing support.


The Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and coordinating a monthly programme of courses and activities tailored to guests’ needs
  • Creating and maintaining a database of local community groups, training schemes, and course providers
  • Facilitating learning that promotes social engagement, practical skills, and personal growth
  • Collaborating with guests and the welfare team on individual support plans
  • Recruiting and supporting a team of volunteers and mentors to assist with course delivery
  • Building partnerships with employers and social enterprises to create onward pathways
  • Monitoring progress and evaluating impact using the Outcome Star tool

The Candidate

This role is ideal for someone with a background in support work, education, or community development. A passion for empowering others is essential, alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptability, and a warm, engaging presence that inspires confidence.


Remuneration 

  • Salary: £27,000 pro-rata per annum
  • Hours: 20 hours per week, which includes some evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. The role has an on-call requirement for the Winter Night Shelter service season.
  • Flexibility: Blended working – UnityMK sites, Winter Night Shelter venues, and working from home
  • Flexible working – options available, subject to the requirements of the role
  • Holidays: 25 days’ pro-rata holiday plus statutory days.
  • Additional: Pension, On-site parking, Employee Discount Scheme
  • Funding for this post is secured for 4 years; however, they are hoping to continue with the position thereafter.
