Overview

We are pleased and thrilled to be working exclusively with our client based in Northampton, who requires a Management Accountant in this newly created role. You’ll be joining the organisation at a critical and exciting time. You’ll be working with a “down-to-earth” supportive FC and an FD who inspires and mentors.


Key Responsibilities 

Financial Reporting & Ledger Management

  • Prepare and maintain financial records up to trial balance, ensuring accurate transaction postings.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of balance sheet control accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Oversee purchase ledger reconciliations, ensuring supplier invoices are accurately recorded and coded.

Invoice Discounting & Cash Flow Management

  • Administer the company’s invoice discounting facility, ensuring compliance with facility terms and optimising cash flow.
  • Perform reconciliations and submissions to maintain accurate records and reporting.

Credit Control & Receivables Management

  • Manage debtor collections, ensuring timely payments and resolving overdue balances.
  • Liaise with clients and internal teams to address and resolve outstanding accounts.

Month-End & Reporting

  • Support the month-end process by preparing financial schedules and assisting with reporting.
  • Provide financial insights through analysis and variance reporting to aid decision-making.

Process Optimisation

  • Identify and implement process improvements within the finance function to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or have extensive experience in management accounting. They should have a strong background in preparing accounts to trial balance and balance sheet reconciliations, along with experience managing commercial invoice discounting or similar financial facilities. Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks, as well as advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, data analysis), is essential.

The role requires strong analytical abilities, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach to financial control. The successful candidate will also have proven experience in debtor collection and credit control, demonstrating strong communication and negotiation skills. Desirable qualities include familiarity with UK GAAP and financial reporting standards, experience in driving process efficiencies within a finance function, and a solid understanding of financial data protection regulations.

Remuneration 

  • Salary – £43,000 – c£48,000 depending on experience
  • Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week – Office based – Hybrid may be considered
