Debbie Burbage Recruitment is thrilled to partner with an established company located in Kettering in their search for an innovative, charismatic, and forward-thinking Head of Tax and Compliance. This pivotal role is designed for someone eager to make a significant impact by refining and advancing tax and compliance procedures, contributing to the enhancement of business operations and profitability.

The aim of this role is to spearhead our client’s tax and compliance division, focusing on strategic development to amplify account returns and elevate overall business profitability.


Responsibilities Include

  • Directing comprehensive tax and statutory compliance initiatives for all clients, ensuring prompt and accurate adherence to regulations.
  • Leading the coordination and filing of R&D, EMI, and EIS documents for clients, adhering to required standards.
  • Enhancing and sustaining client relations, while identifying opportunities for expansion and growth.
  • Becoming the internal benchmark for tax-related queries, fostering strong interdepartmental connections.
  • Streamlining and refining company processes to achieve peak efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Staying abreast of changes in legislation, guiding the company and its clients towards compliance and strategic adaptation.
  • Guaranteeing compliance with Automatic Enrolment Pension Scheme requirements for the company and its clientele.
  • Supervising and mentoring a dedicated team, alongside developing and facilitating comprehensive training programs for team members and other departmental staff.

The Candidate

Keys skills include:

  • Exceptional ability to manage and prioritise in a multifaceted client environment, effectively balancing competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated analytical prowess and problem-solving aptitude, with an emphasis on efficient task prioritisation.
  • High proficiency in IT, particularly in Microsoft Excel, coupled with a thorough familiarity with a variety of accounting software.
  • Excellent communicative strength, ensuring clear and effective interaction within and outside the organisation.
  • A team-centric approach, nurturing a supportive and collaborative workplace ethos.
  • Demonstrated capacity to operate effectively at all levels within the organisation, embodying both leadership and cooperation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Accredited qualifications in CTA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent.
  • Deep understanding and experience with R&D Tax legislation, as well as EMI and EIS schemes.
  • Expertise in the review and preparation of financial statements under FRS102 standards.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience post-qualification.

Remuneration

  • Salary: £competitive – depending on experience
  • Hours: 37.5 hour per week
  • Holidays: 23 days plus statutory days (option to buy and sell holidays)

The role is based in Kettering and within commutable distance of Wellingborough, Rushden, Corby, Northampton, Market Harborough and Oundle.
