Key Duties

This position offers the chance to work intimately with the Finance Director and significantly contribute to a flourishing business setting. As the Financial Controller reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will undertake pivotal responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the preparation of management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy.
  • Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures ensuring operational efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting process, including setting financial targets, conducting financial planning, and performance monitoring against project budgets and timelines.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends in construction costs, project future financial performance of construction projects, and provide strategic insights to senior management for informed decision-making.
  • Ensure effective cash flow management, with a focus on forecasting cash requirements for construction projects, managing treasury functions, and optimising liquidity to support project timelines and investment in construction assets.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies to complete annual audits, ensuring that financial practices comply with UK statutory requirements.
  • Lead and develop a small finance team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and the commercial team to drive cost control, efficiency improvements, and financial accountability.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights into the strategic planning and executive decision-making processes, with a focus on construction project viability, profitability, and strategic direction.

The Candidate

The perfect applicant will possess a professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) and preferably experience in the construction field. We are in pursuit of someone ambitious, dedicated, and focused on producing high-quality work.

Salary: £65,000 – £72,000 per annum, dependant on experience
Hours: 8.30am to 5pm – Monday to Friday – Hybrid working (3 days in the office 2 days WFH)
Holidays: 25 days plus statutory days
