Overview

At Debbie Burbage Recruitment, we are thrilled to exclusively partner with a local organisation to recruit for a newly created Finance Business Partner position. This pivotal role serves as the crucial link between the finance and commercial teams. Having worked closely with this business for many years, we’ve played an instrumental role in expanding their finance team, gaining a deep understanding of the team dynamic and individual personalities along the way.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of four, including two direct reports.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop your team.
  • Review and take responsibility for key tasks performed by direct reports.
  • Implement continuous improvement strategies across the team.
  • Generate KPI reports, addressing both challenges and successes in productivity.
  • Provide management information and analysis to support the commercial team in making informed decisions and shaping future business strategies.
  • Oversee and present weekly commercial performance reviews.
  • Lead efforts to deliver value-added analysis.
  • Act as the expert in FBP, offering insights from Finance.
  • Support category forecasting across all areas.
  • Deliver business reviews, highlighting significant financial and operational issues to aid in informed decision-making.
  • Monitor and ensure accuracy in standard cost variance analysis.
  • Proactively identify and manage commercial risks, including assessing the financial viability of new suppliers.
  • Collaborate with senior team members to help them understand their financial standing.
  • Build detailed, bottom-up plans to manage the annual budgeting process in partnership with the Commercial team.
  • Work with the MA team to create a strong budget framework.
  • Understand organisational data flows and propose system improvements to align with business strategy.
  • Contribute to the implementation of standard costs within a complex, matrixed organisation.
  • Create data models to meet client requirements.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (or QBE) with over two years of experience in a similar role, demonstrating subject matter expertise. They will possess a high level of IT literacy, excellent analytical skills, and experience in managing projects. The candidate will have effective communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships. They will be driven to solve problems, implement process improvements, and manage conflicts. Additionally, they will have astute attention to detail and accuracy, especially when working under pressure and meeting deadlines, and they will be confident in presenting to and influencing Senior Management.

The role is based in a rural location west of Milton Keynes and within commutable distance of Buckingham, Aylesbury, Milton Keynes, Towcester, Northampton, Brackley, and Banbury.


Remuneration 

  • Salary – £negotiable depending on experience
  • Office-based (Monday to Friday)
  • 22 days holiday + statutory bank holidays (increasing with length of service)
